What to request from your supplier

You can work through this list with the factory's manager. A completed checklist does not mean the bank has approved the payment.

Mainland China and Hong Kong

A Hong Kong account is not the same as a factory's account in mainland China. If the seller asks you to pay another company, we first establish its role and the basis for receiving the funds.

Do not change the recipient on the strength of a single message. Verify changes through an established supplier contact and send your manager updated documents.

Why these details matter

Bank instructions for cross-border payments address the payment purpose and bank details separately. We confirm specific requirements with the banks involved.

FAQ

Can you pay for an Alibaba or 1688 order?

We can consider payment against a specific company's invoice. Acceptance of an agent's payment, the seller's details and the platform's order protection terms need separate checks. Payment does not replace checks on the goods and supplier.

The supplier only accepts yuan. Is that suitable?

Send the account and purchase details. We check whether that account can receive payment through an available route. An account being denominated in CNY does not, by itself, confirm this.

Is a payment to Hong Kong handled the same way?

We check the recipient, bank and connection to the transaction separately. The account's country and recipient company must be correctly reflected in the documents.

What records will our accounts team receive?

An agency agreement, agent's report, service completion statement and payment confirmation. Before payment, agree your source-document and foreign currency accounting requirements with your accountant.
